Meet Sean from Woodbury.
Growing up, I taught Sunday school, yet I had so many questions about faith that my church didn’t know how to answer. I felt lost and drifted away from my faith. In my mid-20s both my father and I had health issues. I became angry with God and refused to speak to him for several years.
In 2003 I had a daughter and educated her about Christianity, but left it mainly to my parents to take her to church on Sundays since I was not on speaking terms with God. I felt He’d dealt my family so many unfair challenges in life.
In February 2012 I met my fiancée, Stephanie.
After telling me about her church, I was curious to know how she could remain so strong in her faith despite the world around us.
I asked to attend church with her one Sunday and the rest is history. We were engaged last summer, took EBC premarriage classes, and regularly attend the Woodbury campus. I have found my voice with God again and we talk, regularly! I bring my daughter when I have her on weekends.
My fiancee has had some health issues recently and rather than being angry with God for giving us these challenges, I’ve realized that when it feels like God gives us more than we can handle, he is strong enough for the both of us. I just need to trust in His plan. God brought Stephanie into my life, who brought me to EBC, who brought me back to him. I think about it daily and I am still amazed by everything.
I just wanted you to know what a wonderful experience EBC has been for me.
